Ripple is a highly unusual and rare tweed designed and woven by Margaret of Adabrock Weavers. The stripes in the tweed are wavy and graded in depth. The tweed is cut so that the waist of the Dress looks as though it has a belt. Simply designed, the Dress is sleeveless, above the knee in length, has one large, fringed pocket and no fastenings. The Dress has a smooth satin acetate lining. Very easy to wear, the Dress is designed to be worn with jeans, trousers, or as a dress. All finishing is hand sewn.
The Dress is available in currently available in size 12. Length from mid-shoulder to hem 81cms. Anna is 5ft 7ins tall and is wearing a size 12.The Dress needs to be loose enough to slide on over your head. If we don't have this Dress in stock, please still place your order; we'll email a confirmation with an estimated delivery date. Margaret needs 4 weeks to weave the tweed if she doesn't have any in stock.
Harris Tweed is the only fabric that is protected by an act of parliament, The Harris Tweed Act 1993. Any cloth that is officially Harris Tweed is woven in a weaver’s shed on the island, and only cloth that is made this way can be given the Harris Tweed trademark “Orb” stamp, which the Harris Tweed Authority gives to every piece of cloth.
LOCH ROAG DESIGNS use tweed from Harris Tweed Hebrides, made locally at the Shawbost Mill which is thirty-one miles from my workshop in Valtos. There are around 170 weavers at present, a neighbour of mine being one.
