A gorgeous blanket scarf in 'petrol' blue, dark blue with pin stripes in turquoise and pale orange, was inspired by the lapwings that Margaret (the weaver) sees from her croft in Ness.Each blanket scarf is two meters in length with deep fringing. They are fifty centimetres wide.Due to the lanolin in the wool tweed is water and snow resistant. A good shake will dislodge both!
Harris Tweed is the only fabric that is protected by an act of parliament, The Harris Tweed Act 1993. Any cloth that is officially Harris Tweed is woven in a weaver’s shed on the island, and only cloth that is made this way can be given the Harris Tweed trademark “Orb” stamp, which the Harris Tweed Authority gives to every piece of cloth.
LOCH ROAG DESIGNS used this tweed from Adabrock Weaving Company, made locally on Lewis by Margaret Rowan, using Harris Tweed Hebrides yarn.This tweed is woven on a single width loom.
